Match 42: Deccan Chargers vs. Mumbai Indians

Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist won the toss and sent Sachin’s team Mumbai to bat first. Deccan Chargers who are missing winning combination were up against another superb team unbeaten from last 5 matches. Sachin Tendulkar and Sanath Jayasuriya opened again in grand fashion but high hoped Jayasuriya fallen earlier scoring 36 runs due to instant change done by Gilchrist Venugopal strike in his first over. However after departure of Jayasuriya dropped scoring rate of Mumbai Indians but Sachin Tendulkar with Thornely tried to carry up things @ good rate. Shahid Afridi picked two in his over of Sachin and Thornely created some problems for Mumbai Indian. But depth of Mumbai Indians consisted Nayyar and Bravo settled and transformed innings to defend able total. Quick runs in few balls helped Mumbai Indians to finish the innings and set target of 178 runs.

Deccan Chargers who are not well-chasers initiated things shakily, Shahid Afridi dismissed in his first bowl of the match. Gilchrist and Sharma smelt a partnership but Dilhara Fernando removed both of them in his first over. Venugopal Rao was only batsmen from few matches showing great resistance with the bat and ball too. He continued to show his brilliance along Ravi Teja and tried to guide Deccan towards victory. Match 26 - Chennai Super Kings vs. Deccan Chargers

Chennai Super Kings who started the tournament as most sucessful team in IPL after winning consecutive 4 wins now they are down in under loosing match by match. Deccan Chargers captain, Adam Gilchrist won the toss and elected to field like most captains do after winning toss. MS Dhoni also eyed to put on realistic target to upleash Deccan Chargers solid batting line up. Start from beginning bowling attack of Deccan always find themselves right on top by grabbing early and crucial wickets. Vijaykumar removed Parthiv Patel in his first over then suddenly wickets started to tumble over by over. From other end RP Singh continued his tight line and also grabbed twice in whole innings. Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni able to survive at crease for some while and look to build up any major parntership but Sanjay Bangar dismissed Raina and broken dangerous gathering of dangerous pair Raina scored 32 runs. Soon Albie Morkel came in who is more reknown as solid hitter of cricket bowl but following next over of Sanjay Bangar, Ojha also removed fearous batsman MS Dhoni which is called to be Priceless wicket in any part of the game that make double bonus for Deccan Chargers. Since then no one seem to stay and survive at middle except Albie Morkel who scored handy 29 runs went not out with Manpreet Gony. Chennai Super Kings made 144 runs 7.44 runs per over.

Deccan Chargers, new and most re-defining batting pair Adam Gilchrist and Herchelle Gibbs. Gibbs fallen early by giving delicate catch to Gony which he caught quite brilliantly. Then Scott Styris came to join Adam Gilchrist, Gilly again looked in fantastic form of batting played anchor role as captain do for his team. In absence of VVS Laxman he looked more patient and responsible because of leading team from front. Scott Styris also supported him well meanwhile Adam Gilchrist reached his quick fire fifty and suddenly got out after making 54 runs off 36 balls including 7 boundaries and 2 massive sixes. Rohit Sharma joined Scott Styris he also display his finesse with great excellency of strokes. After again loss of Rohit Sharma the pinch hitter Shahid Afridi came in who is looking to score something with bat in IPL. Afridi seemed to be in real hurry he finish the target within 18th over. He remain not out for 20 runs included 2 boundaries and 2 sixes. Scott Styris also remained unbeaten while scoring 36 runs. Deccan Chargers won by 7 wickets and registered their 2nd victory of the tournament while Chennai Super Kings lost 3rd match in a row and second in home Chennai. Adam Gilchrist awarded as Man of the Match for second time in IPL for his magnificient 56 runs and led his team towards 2nd victory

Match 21: Royal Challengers Bangalore vs. Deccan Chargers

Deccan and Bangalore are not well placed in IPL Standings. Deccan Chargers who is real packed with variety of International Players unable to do special magic in tournament. Well Bangalore is highly spirited with variety of players in line-up. VVS Laxman, luckiest captain of Deccan Chargers who won the toss and decided to field first and prefered to chase. Royal Challengers who are also not well in batting second started their innings significantly. Wasim Jaffar, who is in supreme form of touch steered his team as professional T20 player from started of their innings. Chipli get out early but another young gun of U-19 V Kohli came and gelled with Wasim Jaffar for crucial and match winning parntership. Jaffar scored and played all over the park however Kohli also played his active part in Royal Challengers innings. After eventual dismissals of Jaffar and then Kallis things become uneasy and unpredictable for Challengers. More Wickets fallen in which debutant Misbah-ul-Haq also included. Deccan Chargers time by time appleid constant pressure towards Challengers which give them wickets at regular intervals. Rahul Dravid suppose to be wall again for RCB and scored handy knock with bat. RCB able to score only 156 runs which Deccan seems to comfortable with bowling performance.

But batting second and chasing anything over 150 seems to be unpredictable and when Deccan Chargers chasing it. Gilchrist and VVS Laxman started the run chase smoothly and easily. Gilchrist and Gibbs thrown their wicktes cheaply. But captain VVS Laxman and most consistent Rohit Sharma stood together for magnificient partnership. They played and continued running momentum at good pace. After a fine partnership of over 100 runs things are looking easy and comfortable for Deccan Chargers as 8 wickets remaining and just 7 or hald runs required. Both of them reached and compiled well deserved half-centuries but game is not still over, Eventually Rohit Sharma dissmised tried to up the tempo of runs. After him flory of wickets started to tumble as Shahid Afridi, Scott Styris and well set VVS Laxman dismissed in short span of 1 over. Loss of wickets made more problems Deccan Chargers. Praveen Kumar was pick of the bowling attack he stood and bowled at right line and length also grabbed 3 major wickets. No one after them seems capitalize in batting, Sanjay Bangar came he given some hope for Deccan after hitting consecutive sixes over Anil Kumble but his heroics not worked Deccan to win. Atlast Deccan lost and Royal Challengers won by 3 runs. A narrow victory with strong fight back by Rahul Dravid and his camp. Match-19 Deccan Chargers vs. Kings XI Punjab

Deccan Chargers who registered their first win against Mumbai Indians other night and Kings XI Punjab after hesistant start in IPL soon gripped up from last two matches. Its a day nighter second match of the day because of 1st May at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Yuvraj Singh, captain of Kings XI Punjab won the toss and elected to field first. Deccan Chargers started things not bad like as they did in past. Much expected Adam Gilchrist got early out with brilliant piece of bowling from Irfan Pathan. Herchelle Gibbs who playing his first game of IPL didn’t look to score much he also perished only making few runs. VVS Laxman looked in fine touch and created great momentum with bat. Shahid Afridi also came but again unable to score much. It was again young and highly versatile Rohit Sharma who took the charge in bowling ahead of VVS Laxman who get out cheaply by Piyush Chawla. The Factor of Piyush Chawla also proven to be fantastic, he grabbed up 3 major blows for Kings XI Punjab. Instead of Brett Lee some one need to took charge and Piyush did greatly. The assault of Rohit Sharma continues till the last bowl of the Deccan innings. He remained not out for 76 and Deccan Chargers made 164 for the loss of 8 wickets.

Shaun Marsh a new invention of IPL playing first match, seems to be in great form of nick. He steered expertly and involved in certain partnership time by time. His partner Ramnaresh Sarwan eventually get out as Run out and then Kumar Sangakkara also disappeared without scoring many. Marsh continued to show his batting skills and extreme class. Yuvraj Singh also came but didn’t hit many and certainly get out. Mahela Jayawardena also shown great resistance and contribution in match winning parntership along Shaun Marsh. They put on unbeaten partnership of 81 runs which given comfortable victory for Kings XI Punjab. It is their third victory in a row. Deccan Chargers despite of loosing Andrew Symonds and winning last match unable to make much more against Kings XI Punjab. But Shaun Marsh put on great unbeaten 84 much needed for his team and was rewarded as Man of the Match.

Match 14: Deccan Chargers vs. Mumbai Indians

A must win situation for both teams because they played 3 matches and unable to grab victory. Shaun Pollock replaced Harbhajan Singh as captain of Mumbai Indians. Fortunately VVS Laxman won the toss and elected to field first.
Mumbai Indians started off innings with same sort of stragety in last few matches. Luke Ronchi who is still unable to show any form got out early. Sanath Jayasuriya looked in fine touch but he was also cleared by brilliant bowling of Shahid Afridi. Initially Deccan Chargers seemed to apply pressure on Mumbai Indians. Shaun Pollock promoted himself and tried to boost up scoring tempo. He accomplished things well with Abhishek Nayyar who is enough consistent for Mumbai Indians in whole competetion. Nayyar played fine cricketing strokes with good partnership with Pollock and Bravo. Scoring rate always be key factor but Mumbai Indians fall short to score anything higher than 8 runs per over. Mumbai Indians made 154/7
Deccan Chargers also begun to reply to competetive target of 154. It was totally Adam Gilchrist show with full of action jam packed innings all over the park. He produced solid foundation along with VVS Laxman who supported him time by time. Adam Gilchrist continued his fearous form and completed his century in grand fashion in 42 balls fastest by anyone in IPL. Previous was Andrew Symonds century in 48 deliveries. Gilchrist performance finished all hopes for Shaun Pollock to come up in the match. They reached target within 12 overs. Adam Gilchrist was rewarded man of the match for his brilliant knock of 109 which includes 9 boundaries and 10 smashing sixes.

Match 9 – Rajasthan Royals vs. Deccan Chargers @ Hyderabad

Rajasthan Royals won the toss and captain Shane Warne choose field first. Deccan Chargers as appeared intended to do some changes in game plan and strategies. Adam Gilchrist opened up VVS Laxman for first time in the tournament. Gilchrist as always showed majestic show with the bat but he soon removed by Yosuf Pathan an active change made by Warne. Gilly able to make only 13 runs with 3 boundaries. Shahid Afridi promoted upto the order to number 3 and asked to play explosive shots first 3 balls costed 10 runs including 4 and a 6 to third man. Pathan also enables to outclass Afridi and sent him to dig out with the final delivery of the over. After the fall of second wicket highly expected and 2nd most expensive player Andrew Symonds arrived and continued to maintain momentum for Deccan Chargers. VVS Laxman also tried to give initial support to Symonds soon he get out cheaply by Shane Warne a legend leg-spinner after scoring only 16 runs. Symonds, gradually initialized powerful strokes through the park and started Warne to think about thing happening out. He scored quickly 50 runs off 29 balls and never looked back. In the same process Rohit Sharma who also becoming active part in batting side for Deccan played awesomely. In partnership of Andrew Symonds and Rohit Sharma scored 100 runs in just 54 for 4th wicket. It proved to be valuable and essential part of Deccan innings. Rohit Sharma soon removed by Warne trying to clear the boundary. Andrew Symonds played wisely and continued till the end of innings. He completed his century in 54 balls fastest century in IPL Competetion and stayed not-out. Deccan Chargers finished off with handy total of 214 for the loss 5 wickets.

Batting 2nd and chasing a total of 200+ with maintenance of 10 runs over isn’t found to be easy job. Kamran Akmal and Graeme Smith opened up and played great cricketing shots. Kamran Akmal looked to be in fine touch but he felt out early only scoring 12 runs on the bowling of Chaminda Vaas. Yosuf Pathan joins the party for run chase. Yosuf, is the brother of Irfan Pathan known as clean striker in this format of T20. He smashed up and charged the pace attack of Deccan Chargers. Graeme Smith also supported actively in runs per over. Royals completed their 100 in 8.3 overs which is fastest made by IPL Team. Yousuf Pathan continued to show smartness and powerful strikes. He dealt only in sixes and reached his fifty in just 21 balls also fastest made by any player in IPL. 2nd Parntership between Smith and Pathan gathered 98 runs and secured Rajasthan in relatively driving seat. Yousuf Pathan, in the process of hitting explosive shots get out scoring 61 off 27 which includes 6 monster sixes and 4 boundaries. Meanwhile Graeme Smith with along Shane Watson tried to up the tempo of innings. Shahid Afridi cleaned up Shane Watson, he only scored 4 runs. Mohammad Kaif, joined Graeme Smith and again tried to match up the level of scoring rate. Graeme Smith reached his well-deserved 34 balls. The job was not still done scoring rate climbing up and up as Mohammad Kaif decided to take charge and smashed 18 runs from Andrew Symonds over which includes 3 sixes by Kaif. Shahid Afridi, the street-fighter decided to go with ball and do something in his last over he removed Mohammad Kaif and Graeme Smith in same over. It changed the complete scenario of the game. After the loss of 3 more wickets in 2 overs a ready made match seems to be loose by Rajasthan. Shane Warne, Captain of Rajasthan Royals promoted himself and shown great batting display. Andrew Symonds bowled the last over of the match with 17 runs required. Shane Warne hit 2 sixes and 1 boundary which cost much higher to VVS Laxman. The match comprehensively won by Rajasthan Royals with great overall sporting spirit and gains 2 valuable points. It’s a 3rd consecutive loss for Deccan Chargers.

Match 9: Deccan Chargers after early loss of 2 matches again stead up against Rajasthan Royals. Chargers Team which was supposed to be strongest opponent amongs the IPL contest looking for a winning point. Now they are fully ready to alter match tactics and get in with some new match plan. Adam Gilchrist and Andrew Symonds two Aussies failed to acclaim any sort of form in past two with recently joined Shahid Afridi too.
Rajastan Royals win over Mumbai Indians Shane Warne captain of team is eager to perform more better with support of Young team mates. For this time Yosuf Pathan considered to be as powerful striker will be promoted top of the order for opening with wicket keeper Kamran Akmal. Some overseas players who joined in which Graeme Smith, Sohail Tanvir and Younus Khan also can be useful for the team. But Warne assures for winning side combination.

If Deccan Chargers have to win this encounter then some how any overseas player has to stuck in however young Indian Rohit Sharma produced good and impressive average with the bat and better strike rate also.

Match 7 between Delhi DareDevils & Deccan Chargers played at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium, Hyderabad. The toss won by VVS Laxman captain of Chargers who elected to bat first the initial expression of Dare Devils was simple and sleek as they were ready to do all things on IPL Platform. Delhi who is winner of domestic championship named as Ranji Trophy claimed as strongest contender in IPL.

As Always, Adam Gilchrist opened up batting along with Venugopal Rao which Gilly unable to give solid start for DC and wickets started to tumble as Mohammad Asif who recently joined DareDevils after a successful tour against Bangladesh uplift the bowling single handedly and which he provided some initial and crucial breakthroughs for his Delhi DareDevils Team.

No one seems to be play any mature innings highly hoped Andrew Symonds & Shahid Afridi, Sanjay Bangar got out cheap without making any explosive impression. One has to stay and play long innings so then Rohit Sharma a young Delhi talent who was involved in Indian T20 Campaign last year showed great temperament and class of act. He finished off his innings an over before with 66 runs of 36 balls including 6 boundaries and 4 monster maximum DLF sixes. Deccan Chargers ended their innings with a score of 142-8.

Chasing anything around 7 or half per year in T20 format never seems to be hard job when Virender Sehwag, captain of Dare Devils himself opened up with Gautam Gambhir his fellow team mate. Both of them played superb and aggressive cricketing shots since the beginning of the target chase. Deccan Chargers unable to capitalize first chance when Virendar Sehwag catch dropped by Pragyan Ojha (Left Arm Spinner) on 13 which costed much high later the innings. In reply Chaminda Vaas and R.P. Singh continued to bowl on dead right areas. As Gautam Gambhir lost his charm and given a sharp catch behind to Adam Gilchrist on the bowling of R.P Singh. In place of S Dhawan replaced him who also begun to show great class of batting and played deliberate strokes.

On other side Sehwag never look behind as he continue his typical stokes and explosive shots all over the park. He made things easier for DareDevils when he took 30 runs from Andrew Symonds second over with a series of three sixes and three boundaries. DD compiled the innings and achived target in 13th over quite comprehensively. DD won by 9th wickets.
Man of the Match was awarded to Virendar Sehwag for his 94*off 41 balls including 10 boundaries and 6 Sixes.
 

After a recent loss against Kolkata Knight Riders, Deccan which is fully packed with powerful and explosive batsmen takes up challenge for second encounter against Delhi DareDevils. Delhi team led by Virender Sehwag won first match comprehensively to beat Rajasthan Royals.
First defeat against Riders never lowered down the team confidence as VVS Laxman captain of the side still confident because some more overseas players including Shahid Afridi for Deccan and Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Asif for Devils can change the modes of the game. Because these players are genuinely blessed with T20 taste and proved in last T20 World Cup 2007 @ South Africa.
On other hand captain of DareDevils Virendar Sehwag says he does’nt find any difficulty to treat these players because he likes to under-pressure and interested for sporting match.
